Who is Julie Kristina?
Julie Kristina came into the world two months earlier carrying a tumor in her chest about the size of one of her arms. Four surgeries and 16 weeks in the NICU she came home for the first time.
These pages document Julie’s ongoing struggles to overcome those first few months and how our family deals with every day issues by depending on God’s provision, power, and grace.
Hundreds follow JK Updates
Introspective diaries differ from blogs because they focus on significant life events rather than provide a dry summary of a day planner. As such, these writings can sink into never ending spirals of despair. Alternatively, the author exaggerates the problems to make himself/herself appear superhuman.
JK Updates avoid boring, blues and boastful posts by mixing exceptional real-life situations, current medical knowledge, and a unique (i.e. warped) sense of humor. Some posts leave you euphoric, while others simply convey our misery. Most posts contain an overarching humorous theme to connect the events together.
Initially, we emailed the JK Updates to our extended family and a few close friends (and posted a copy on Facebook). Others began requesting their own copies and then asked permission to forward the emails to their prayer partners. The responses we received came from all over the world.
Frequency
Just as we cannot control the events of our lives, so we cannot control the frequency of the JK Updates. The limitations of time, imagination and humor have left large holes in Julie’s history.
Purpose
We plan to repost all the JK Updates from the past years as we add new posts for the current situation.
We pray that these updates will encourage your hearts and strengthen your faith in Jesus Christ.
