We received the best news since Sarah learned she conceived…
Great news – Julie is coming home! Sarah and I are packing to spend the night at the hospital. We will bring Julie home either Saturday afternoon or Sunday.
Julie was taken off all breathing support on Tuesday just after I sent the last update. So she won’t need any breathing machines or monitors at home.

She is up to 95 cc every three hours – 2 hours through the g-tube and 1 hour to rest. Hopefully, by the time we are home she will be back to 1 hour feedings and 2 hours rest.
Julie has had mixed success with her bottle. She took a whopping 97 cc from us last night, but only 80 from Sarah this afternoon. This is the reason we opted for the g-tube – she can do what she can handle and still get enough nutrition.
The crib, changing station, and stroller are all set up. Julie passed a 4 hour car seat test so
she is cleared for take-off! I just have to learn how to setup the car seat base – so she might have to stay in the hospital for an extra week.

Continue to thank God for His provision and protection!

We dropped Joe off at the airport Thursday. He had talked about staying for a few more days, but we had to refuse since Julie would come home soon.
When we entered the NICU door, we turned the opposite direction down the other hall towards the regular nursery area to Julie’s new room. Julie lay in a regular crib with no tubes or wires connected to her! First time since her birth day.
She’s no longer a preemie or even a newborn, but a 3 month old infant. She weighs over ten pounds.
The car seat test determines whether she can survive strapped to the car seat for an hour without having problems. The nurse showed me how to strap her into the seat and she passed the test with no problems although she got bored soon enough – are we there yet?
I never did take the car-seat class from the hospital, so I had no idea how to install the car seat. I joked about taking months to learn in my update.
Next thing to do was an all night stay over at the hospital for both Sarah and me to prove we can take care of Julie. I wrote this update just as we prepared to leave for the hospital…
